if you can believe it...we had SNOW this morning....its was SNOWING in IRAQ! It is not unusual for it snow further north of where I am - but it is NOT a common occurence this far south. Granted - it is not accumulating, but enough fell that someone made a little snowman with accumulated on the deck. The ground has a light coating - but good grief....From 130 degress this summer to snow! All it did was make me home sick! _________________

Wow, what a trip for you, Mary! We've been having some crazy weather around here, too. I don't know if you have to wear all of the gear all the time that I see the solders wearing on TV, but I wonder how you could walk around in all that stuff! But it's got to be easier in the cold than in the terrible heat.
Wish I could wish you home, but I think I'll make a cake for you instead. Name your flavor of choice, and I'll go get the beaters greased and the stove fired up! How about a snowman cake?
You take care, and keep your head down. _________________

WOW, bet everyone was surprised to see snow. Had the Iraqis ever even seen the white stuff?
Sorry it made you homesick but that's understandable. Do you have a date yet when you'll be heading home? Just know that you have many praying for you and your safety. _________________

Wow, I would have never thought about snow there...I have never got to see a really big snow...we get dustings in Ala sometimes a few inches but it usually melts before you could get a full size snowman...

Hi Mary D. Thought you might like to know that the snowfall in Baghdad made the Fox news. When they were talking about it, I told hubby about you writing to tell us. He couldn't believe it. Our great nephew was there only a few months ago and the temperatures were, like you said, 130 and up.
Take care of yourself and stay safe. _________________
