Tom, what a great attribute of your father. I so enjoyed reading about him and your life with your family.

I could feel the love coming through. He was a very giving man. Sounds like a man that didn't let anything keep him from living. Sounds like he loved the Lord and showed Gods love to his wife and son.

You are blessed.

Love, Londa

PS You aught to write a book with those old pictures of yours about your life. You would be surprised how people would be very interested. You write very well.

Thanks, Londa. I didn't realize that you had replied until now, almost a month after the fact.

You taught me how to love you by
the way that you loved me
And by your unseen sustenance,
to see what you could see
You gave to me through who you were
the gift of what I am
Your pride in me is now my pride
your fate, my caravan
Your life does not conclude with death,
nor will it end with mine
for all the lives I touch, you touch,
and so on through all time

Sorry for the late response, but the story of your father is so beautiful, I couldn't resist

What a beautiful poem! Thank you for sharing. Are you the author?

Tom

Hi Tom,

I didn't write that poem, I was surfing on the internet for a poem to teach my children in class for the upcoming Fathersday, when I saw this beautiful English poem(I think all poems sound better in English BTW). I immediately thought of the story you told about your father and copied it for you!
Wink
Greetings

Peggy
(PS, reading it again I noticed some spellingmistakes, I hate it when I do that, sorry...Guess I have to go to the English class if I want to continue writing here Embarassed )

Peggy:

Thank you again for sharing that with me.

Your "spelling" mistakes were more typing mistakes than spelling mistakes, and we all mess up like that.

We have 3 different languages in Belgium, a French part, a (small) German part and a Flemmish part, I speak Flemmish! Very Happy
It's incredible actually, when you know how small Belgium is...

Traveling in Belgium was interesting - the same street would have different names - reading the map was challenging - and a rental car with a standard transmission - no "automatic". It was a great trip! And I agree with Tom - your english is very good!

I've never been there, but the Belgian beer I've had was fantastic.

True Hunaphu, we only have a very small country, but we're famous because of our beer and also Brussels sprouts , asperges, waffles and chocolate, hmmmm
Most people drive with automatic transmission here Mary, I hope you liked your trip and tried the chocolate! Laughing
With the money I'm saving on my quit, I want to go for a weekend to New York (would love to go for a longer period and see a lot more of America, but that's not possible with my 3 young children... maybe when they are older!

Peggy,

What a great reward that will be - a trip to New York. I took my sons when they were teenagers. We also went to Boston, MA and through the New England states. It was a wonderful trip.

You may have read this elsewhere, since I talk about it often: I brew my own beer. I have a witbier in the fermenter right now. I used yeast imported from Belgium, just so it would be more authentic.

Wow Hunaphu, brewing your own beer, sounds exciting! I don't drink a lot of beer, but when I do, it's Jupiler or Witteken.
Kaye and Mary, I hope to get to NY some day, but I will only do this trip when I'm smokefree for a couple of months, just to be sure that this quit is one to last for a loooooooooong time, hopefully for ever!
Sorry Tom, we're getting kinda off-topic here, I hope you don't mind Confused
