Ran 5K on Sunday, and walked 1.5 miles on Monday - and on Tuesday - and now that I've finished my shift - and its almost 0200 - I'm going to learn how to "row" - there's a machine in the gym here. We'll see how that goes! And then I'll walk home - about .75 miles.

Hi Barb and Mary, I've been ill for several weeks now with a flare-up. They've taken me off all my meds, so I'm not myself these days, hurting and something is making me itch! However, my husband and next door neighbor spent all day Sunday making a walking path for me in the woods behind my house. I went out there today and walked...it is awesome!

I will try to be more faithful about posting here...sorry I kind of let it droop.

MARY DUDE,

You're such an athlete. I love all the stuff you do. Wish I was still able to do it myself.
I really like the rowing machine in the gym. I thought it was excellent exercise for the back and shoulders and thighs.
Makes me want to go check out the gym again. Haven't had a membership for a couple years.

But, I guess we all do what we can within our own limitations.

I'll train with you Gidget! I have another 5K on April 13 - its for sexual assault awareness. I'm a slow runner - but I get there...I did get a rowing lesson in - and rowed for 30 minutes tonight. It is kinda fun - a nice change from walking or running. It definitely works all the major muscle groups. We'll see what hurts in the morning. Did my two mile walk earlier today.

Terrific! Thanks, Mary! How do your shoulders feel today?? 1/2 hour on a new machine with new muscle group being worked is REALLY tough!! YAY! I haven't run competitively in 15 years, so I'm going to need any pushing necessary! I thought training for something could solidify my resolve and get me thinking about things other than my quit! Smile I feel like my internal dialogue goes something like this, "me, me, me me me me, me me ME ME memememe, Me me, ME!!!" I'm pretty tired of it! I had a knee replaced from a skiing injury 10 years ago, and I haven't run much on pavement at all since then. How do you train for your runs? Yours is in 2 weeks!!

Gidget, I've never heard it expressed so eloquently! Anything we can do to get away from ourselves is such a Godsend.

I just got in from a long walk, probably about 4.5 miles. Will walk to work and home for another 1.5 miles and may take a walk on my meal break of about 1.5 miles. So I am up to about 7.5 miles today! It is starting to really feel like spring, nice warm sun and everything is turning green!
I could never have walked 7 miles in one day when I was smoking.

7.5 miles is really great, Josh. Don't forget to eat on that meal break.

We lost our sun here for a couple days, I'm missing my walks.

You'll get your sun back, Kaye! It is spring Smile
Josh, good for you!! You are in my neck of the woods...Have you considered running a 5K? There is one in New Britain on May 10... The sponsor/pledge money supports breast cancer research in CT.
You'd probably breeze through the run you've been doing great with the walking! There is also a 4K walk as part of the same event come to think of it...

I did my walk today, there's a very cold breeze blowing. I walked real fast.

I have a dog for my Avatar because we're thinking about another dog. It's been nice without a dog when we want to go overnight. But, we sure do miss our border collie.

I never run or jog at all! I can walk (pretty fast too) all day if necessary but I cant run at all. I am told that I have "poor form".

That being said, I did all my walking today (and yes, I did eat on my meal break... I get an hour and eat for half and then walk for half), it was a beautiful day! Really feels like spring and I got a little sun too!
