Well...its time for my marathon! I fly to Myrtle Beach tomorrow and will be walking 26.2 miles on Saturday. The race starts at 0630 - and the course will be open for 8 hours for the walkers....that will be me...I hope to finish in less than 7 hours - but we'll see - I just want to finish it! Wish me luck! I'll be home on Sunday night and I'll give you a report on how it goes! Take care and have a great weekend! I know I will!

I'm a marathon finisher!!! 26.2 miles in 6 hours 52 minutes 19 seconds - that an average of 15.49 minutes per mile. It rained during the second half of the race - but it was pleasant weather-wise in the low 60's. Feel great - except for some blisters on the bottom of my feet. Traveled home today - back to the cold of Pittsburgh. A very nice break and another goal accomplished! Next will be the half-marathon here in Pittsburgh in May. Goal will be to walk and finish the 13.1 miles in less than three hours!

Good for you, Mary. I may have told you this, but if I did, just ignore it. Our son was a marathon runner in his younger years (he's 53 now). He told us he was never happier than when he was running. Guess walking does the same thing for you.

Congrats on reaching another goal. Good luck in May.

Time for a HALF-marathon - Pittsburgh! Walkers start early at 0630 Sunday morning - I want to finish in about 3 hours....it'll be a challenge - that's faster than 13 minutes/mile - hard to walk that fast! Its great to be smoke-free!

Pittsburgh Half-Marathon - DONE! 13.1 miles in 3 hrs 14 minutes (with one port-a-potty stop) - Average 14.51 minutes per mile. It started raining and about mile 11 - not hard but annoying. The fastest woman runner in the half-marathon finished in 1hr 17 min 16 sec - pace of 5 minutes 54 seconds per mile. There were over 4105 finishers in the half - 1675 men and 2430 women.

I find it fascinating - there were three women in the age 70 & over - the oldest was 80 and ran it in 2:36:36 that a pace just under 12 min/mile. And 30 years older than I am...yikes!

It was fun!
