|
|
Four years ago today, April 10, 2004 (Easter Sunday) I began this journey to freedom. I was very fortunate to have found FFS several weeks prior and worked the modules there. It was at FFS that I was told of Woofmang by another member and joined the Woofmang family. That’s a move I’ve never regretted.
But for the wonderful people here, I may not be enjoying my 4th anniversary. You’ve all been wonderful in supporting me through this journey. Kevin, I just can’t thank you enough for Woofmang. You’ve been not only a wonderful leader but a true friend and inspiration.
This morning I began the day by re-reading the journal I began 4 years ago. It’s amazing how I felt then and how I feel now; absolutely no more craves. Actually I never even think of smoking unless I see someone else with a cigarette and then I just feel sorry for him/her! If they only knew ~ ~ ~.
I have gotten lots of support from my family but, as we all find out, after a few weeks or months, it’s assumed that you’ve quit and are no longer feeling the pull of this addiction – not true! That’s where Woofmang comes in. It’s here that we can share our feelings and concerns and know there are others who have been there and who understand. Millions of thanks to all of your understanding.
My biggest fan, my hubby, actually gave me a gift – something I’ve been wanting for a very long time. I’m now the proud owner of a beautiful Kitchen Aid Artisan Stand Mixer and can get rid of the old, old Sunbeam. Naturally I baked something this afternoon; cookies for our granddaughter who’s coming home from college this week-end.
Thanks to all for the help and support I’ve received here. All you newbies please know that there really is freedom from smoking and it’s absolutely wonderful! You’ll all find out just how wonderrful in just a short period of time
Best wishes to all and, by all means, enjoy your freedom!
P.S. Pamela, what kind of cake would you like? I now have the equipment to mix up a real doozie. _________________

That was a great post, and inspirational to THIS newbie!!
Are you going to make a CAKE with your new beautiful Kitchen Aid???
A 4 year anniversary cake must be a very large cake!

Jo you are a big reason that I fell in love with Woofmang.....your story was so similar to mine and you gave me such good information and such support at the beginning of my quit.....I would always think about you and how you had done it, when a relapse felt very near, and that was often enough to help me get through the really bad times.
Enjoy your mixer.....red velvet cake is my fav.....you and your quit are awesome.....((((hugs to Jo)))))

Way to go Jo!
I'm right behind you one more month to make it to 4 years. And following close behind me by 1 day is MaryD.
I think the toughest part was the first couple of months, after that it's really a (Sea)Breeze.
Oh, and after the weight gain I realized that with some exercise and diet you can actually lose the weight gained. I lost 20 lbs since joining the gym and cutting back on junk food.
3 years, 11 months, 1 day quit.
One day at a time....
Warm Regards,
